The closure of the DSA driving test centre on 13th February 2009 seemed to pave the way for the end of driver training in Pembrokeshire. With the nearest available test centre for LGV, PCV and trailer towing tests located in Neath, most companies feared that the 120 mile round trip would be too great and expensive to make it a viable option for trainees in Pembrokeshire.

Here at Pembrokeshire Road Training we continued to serve the people of Pembrokeshire and relocated our vehicles to Carmarthen to try and aid the people of Pembrokeshire in gaining the licences they require. This halved the journey and kept the training cost stable suffering the additional costs as a company rather than passing this onto the customer. During this period we continued to battle to bring the DSA test centre back to Pembrokeshire but it soon became apparent that this was becoming less and less likely.

The company strived forward and set about returning this service to Pembrokeshire and on the 8th September 2009 became the first operational private test facility in Wales and only the 3rd operational throughout the UK. This facility now meant that LGV, PCV and trailer towing tests could now be completed back in Haverfordwest for the first time since the closure of the driving test centre.

The new driving test facility is located next to our offices on the County Showground in Haverfordwest and is operational for approximately 48 weeks of the year. With a purpose built manoeuvring area and newly refurbished examiners office and waiting area, our facility has been described as second to none.
